I have nothing to say just yet. The 2 chapters I've read were informative. I especially liked the "paperless office" assignment. I was able to vent a little about my past job as a file clerk. You'll see it.
I just finished Ch. 3's lessons. I am so psyched! I understood and used many of these applications. Yet, the macros and other stuff I wish I knew while working at Antheil, Maslow and MacMinn. It would have helped me greatly; it may have saved my job. Who knows?
Anyway, I know I'll be prepared for the next one. Thank God for this class. I can't wait to start Ch 4 & 5's lessons. Yes, I'm a geek. At least, I'm a geek with a purpose - $$$$$$
What happened to intimacy? Books require intimacy. Face-to-face meeting convey much more than information. It creates a bond between client/lawyer/paralegal that no instant message, fancy hard or software could ever evoke.
Also, it doesn't matter how fast you can pull up a general will. It matters if you have the competency and experience to defend your client. That can only occur through time and interfacing with people.
Sorry, I still think researching from time to time with BOOKS creates an extra element of learning than cannot be replaced. It requires metathinking - thinking about your thinking. Also, it gives you time to digest the words and create the legal verbage and concepts required to express yourself.
We are losing our humanity and the ability to be intimate with each other. The disconnect is real and growing with each email.
